Prompt: Write a well-constructed paragraph about your opinion on one of the videos that we watched yesterday. The paragraph should address at least two dance concepts as they are used in the video. Each concept should be explained and described as a way to support your opinion about the piece. The text (video, in this case) must be referenced specifically.
Planning: Use your T-chart to record dance concept & description and your thinking. Use the Effective Argument Graphic Organizer (link in the resources below) to plan your paragraph.
Key Components of a Good Response:
- There is a topic sentence that restates the prompt.
- There is an awareness of audience (teacher, classmates, and community) and use proper spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
- The paragraph is 6-8 sentences long, at least.
- The paragraph uses dance concepts correctly to reference specific textual evidence from the video to support the writer's argument.
- The paragraph uses interesting words that "bump up" their vocabulary and engage the reader. These words are IN ALL CAPS. You should include at least 2 "bumped-up" words.
- You received a "mini-thesaurus" with many different descriptive words. Reference that to find words to use to enhance your vocabulary.
- This is an online reference of descriptive words from Allan Hancock College.

RIP Soda Pop wa my favorite. It was FUNKY and UNUSUAL. There was no UNISON, the dancers just took turns CREATING their own STYLE of dance. They pretty much stayed in one spot, not using up the rest of the space around them. They CONSTANTLY ALTERED their LEVELS. When they moved, it was almost ROBOTIC. They mostly moved fast. They acted happy, like they were HONORING Soda Pop by dancing.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Maddies that Soda Pop was my favorite. I also thought it was cool how they used their own style of dance. She pointed out that they stayed in one spot but they were able to use different levels. I found it unusual that they incorporated a whole town in their dance to represent their friend they were dancing for. The dancers seemed to have paracticed moves that were also done without thinking about it. The circle that they formed added a nice shape to the dance. It made a stage area.
DeleteI liked Rip soda pop and Cold song even though they were diffrent. Rip soda pop was very JERKY and the LEVELS constsantly were changing. The music was loud and like hip hop with no words. Cold song was like ballel and there movements were very TENSE. It's music was like opra but slow and long. One thing that was the same was that they were all not in unision.
ReplyDeleteMy favorit dance was The Cold Song. This dance was the only ballet we saw.The femal dancer wanted to freaz to death and that was what the piece was based around. The dancers used there whole body to use littil negitiv space. Thay made a lot of unusual shapes when the male dancer piced up the female dancer. You need to look evry ware at once becus thay never seem to move in unisin. Some of the path ways thay used to get back to eachother looked difficult. The dance itself was vary tence but sad,it is hared to tell which one was the mood or tone becuse there was an equal us of both amotion.I dnt know why she wanted to freze to deth but when she did she relly did look dead.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you that they danced very UNIQUELY and I thought that was the best part. I also agree with you the at the end she really did look dead.
Deletei liked soda pop more. i liked the beat and the dance. it was robtic and had many levles
ReplyDeleteMy favorite was RIP soda pop because the used a lot of SPACE because they walked alot to get the were they did the dance. There was a lot of LEVELS to they were juming all over the place with good levels. This inspired my oppinion because it is stuff i like. Overall the video kind of made me feel happy.

ReplyDeleteRIP soda pop was my favorite video. it went from useing alot of space from all over to a small space where they stood in a half circle. they used all most all parts of there body to pop, twist and shake. The shapes they made with there body was cool. it seemed there were honoring a lost dancer or choregrapher soda pop. I like RIP soda pop the most because it was a little easier to understand why they where danceing.
ReplyDeleteRIP "Soda Pop" was my favorite video. It went from using alot of space from all over to a small space where they could stand in a half circle. They used all parts of there body to pop, twist, and shake. The shapes they made with there body was cool. It seemed they where honoring a lost dance member or a choregrapher named Soda Pop. I like RIP "Soda Pop" the most because it was a little easier to understand why they where dancing or how they were showing what they where dancing for.
Deletethat was my favorite video to cause the dancing was cool and the beats. it was cool how everybody from all over the streets came to where they were dancing and joined them.
DeleteI liked the video "RIP Soda Pop". The dance concept of the video was energy,I think the mood was pride because they made a video in honor of there dead friend Soda Pop, I like this this video "RIP Soda Pop" because the people in the video are very honorable to there friend. overall, the video "RIP Soda Pop" was epic.
ReplyDeleteI agree that the video was very full of pride. What i liked about it was that they did different things on different levels. They were all doing a dance in memory of a friend and that was INTERESTING. The way they did things with their arms were UNIQUE.
DeleteThere was also one called the cold song. It kind kind of scared me but it had a lot of PATHWAYS most were in strait lines. There was also a lot of LEVELS they were standing at one time then all of the sudden they were on the floor. I did not like it very much. Overall the video scared me.

ReplyDeletei liked the rip soda pop better than the first one because they had alot of PATHWAYS and they didn't just stay in one spot. they also had a lot of different LEVELS some of them were of the ground and then some were just dancing on there feet. they had a lot of energy to move like that.
ReplyDeleteI liked R.I.P soda pop it was interesting. the shape of the guys arms were cool. They were in UNISON some of the time. The choreography was like a ROBOTIC human. The time was fast. there was a lot of energy in the space that they were taking up. i thought there wasn't a lot of NEGATIVE SPACE.
ReplyDelete"RIP Soda Pop" was my favorite video. They used a lot of shapes with their bodies. The level they were on RELIED UPON what they were doing with their bodies. The dancers were never in unison. "The Cold Song" was ALL RIGHT. Just like "RIP Soda Pop" the dancers were not in unison. In this video the girl gets picked up by the guy alot. When she gets picked up she moves her feet and makes VARIOUS shapes with her legs. The timing in this video was cool. At the beginning it goes from slow to fast, and back to the ending being slow. At the end the girls body is slouching like she is being freezed.
ReplyDeleteI like the video "RIP Soda Pop"The shape the dancers made with their arms was very boxy, this made you look at the negative space that was on the inside of their arms.I thought that the music was a little robotic and STIFF. Then I also like how it go's from HUGE space to small and FOCUSED on one thing. The levels the dancers used were contently different, they were always going up and down to do different moves. For instance the dancers would go down and HOBBLING around on their elbows then they would get right back up.I like this dance because it was up and ENERGETIC.These are all the reasons I like this dance.
ReplyDeleteIn (R.I.P Soda Pop) the dances were doing tricks with there hands. There was not really UNISON in the dances. It was WEIRD when the dancers went in different movements. It was CREEPY how the ILLUSIONS looked. The ILLUSIONS looked like they were bending there arms.
ReplyDeleteI definitely found Rip Soda Pop more interesting than Cold Song. They used many different LEVELS, by jumping around or CROUCHING to the ground. Also, there were lots of PATHWAYS. I thought it was cool how although they used a tiny space, they made it a great dance. I like how they used the background and things in it, like cars. They moved quickly and were very AGILE. I thought it was very nice of them to DEDICATE a dance to the person who passed away.
ReplyDeletei really liked R.I.P SODA POP in the video the dancers werent in unison they were ALL doing there own thing there moves were very CREATIVE . they were making boxes with there arms and they were doing all kinda crazy things. the levels changed allot either someone was standing up and doing something funky with there arms and legs or they were on the ground and doing COOL things .
ReplyDeletei like this one because i also thought it was creative.
DeleteI liked the dance RIP Soda Pop. I liked it bacause that dancers made the dance INTERESTING by doing tricks and makeing shapes with their hands. I also liked the amout of energy that the dancers put into the dance and the song. I also liked the pathways that the dancers used ESPESHILLY in the begining. I liked the pathways in the beggining because all the dancers were coming from different points to meet in their group. i also thought the dances name was kindof wierd but then when i learned more about the title i understood. I also ilked this video because all the dancers looked like they were having fun thinking of the death if their friend no sobbing by his grave.
ReplyDeleteI agree...the dance was weird, yet unusual. It felt like they were honoring "Soda Pop's" death by dancing, not mourning. I also agree with your comment about the pathways they made, how they all came together. Your response is really good.
DeleteP.S: Check your spelling! ;-)
I liked the dance "RIP Soada Pop" because it was fast and ELECTRIFYING. I also thought the ways they could bend there body was cool. In the dance the time was fast and there was little SPACE since the dancers were in a small circle and there was no UNISON because they took turns dancing.
ReplyDeleteI liked the “RIP Soda Pop” video because the shape was symmetric. The dance seemed happy but in between the dances the dancers seemed to be mourning something creating a consonance. This video made think of street dancing being put into deep recollection. The levels changed slightly But the entertainers took up lots of space. The dance caught my attention with its fast pace and urban beat. In conclusion the dance was a good yet confusing performance.
ReplyDeleteI liked the video ”RIP Soda Pop” because it was fast and energetic.Dance concept was movement. The dancers used different types of MOVEMENTS in the video. I liked it because they use all the SPACE around them in the beginning ,and then in the middle it of it they made the space smaller and then they start to dance.I didn’t like the video ”the ice song” because the song was a little to slow for the dance.I think the dace concept was the different levels. The LEVELS changed in the video a lot of times because they kept going on the ground or ducking and the lady puts her legs in the air.I disliked it because the video was to slow. Overall both of the videos were good
ReplyDeleteI liked "RIP Soda Pop" because there was tons of motion and happiness that shows RIP Soda Pop that there happy. I think that "RIP Soda Pop" was an inspiration to the dancers because they danced to tell the people that he had died and it showed they cared. I also think they had PATHWAY cause they went from cars to streets and down the streets and i also think they used up tons of SPACE then they went up to a circle. ~Angela
ReplyDeletei liked rip soda pop because it was creative and had lots of moovement.iliked how they use many leveles and space. they didnt leave much empty.i think the dancers tried theyer best because it was dedicated and they had a motive.i liked the music because it was more hip hop and had lots of bass.the dancers had a lot of pop in theyer dance. i liked the set of the vidieo it was kinda ghetto and was in a small run down town and it was cool. i liked how many dancers were in the vidieo instead of just one or to. i liked how they didnt greeve over theyer friend death but celebrated him passing into another life. in conclusion i liked the vidieo a lot it was my style.
ReplyDeleteI think that you need to say someyhing els besides "I like" but I love your enthusiasum!I think it is kindof more of a yunger stile as well and I two enjoyed the dances.
DeleteI like the dance The Cold Song. I liked this dance because it brought my attention also at the end. When she was slowly dieing it made it seem like she had like one million joints. In this peice there was a little bit of levels but mostly ballet seemed to occur often. There is tons of flexibility. There telling a story that she wants to be frozen to death. This is why i liked this dance the most.
ReplyDeleteI liked ”RIP Soda Pop” because it was something I could relate to. Also had the dub-step music. Dance concept: Space everyone gathered around in a group and people took turns doing mini solos. It looked more like something you would see in life. Dance concept: shape, The shape the dancers gathered in was a circle. its a good shape to surround people with. Overall, the video “R.I.P Soda Pop“was trolalitiuos... witch means I liked it.
Deletei liekd how they made the video and i liked how they were dancing

ReplyDeleteI really liked the dance "RIP Soda Pop". I thought it was very MEANINGFUL that they decided to do that for there friend who died. It also was very ENERGETIC and JUMPY. It was also very THOUGHTFUL. "RIP Soda Pop Was really COOL. I also thought it was a very up bet video.
ReplyDeleteThe subway dance had alot of negitive space, witch is were the dancers are not. they did not move around alot and most of the movement was at the top part of their bodies. The also did not dance in unison, were the dancers do the same thing , the never danced togeather and each dancer did something different. The time, they also used the same time as each otherm, fast or slow a dancer moves
ReplyDeleteYes Earl I thought it did to but i still really liked it better then any of the other ones.
DeleteArts in ed was fun. Arts in Ed was cool but it wasnt what i thought it was. I thought Arts in Ed would let you dance however you want not however meg told us to. I thought Arts in Ed was fun but somewhat boring. Meg said that we might do the finals in the dance.
ReplyDeleteWe wached some videos to day in arts and ed. There was fore videos.I liked the dance called(R.I.P soda pop) the best. The dance toke place in the city. They gatherd in a circel and wuld take turns dancing. The mood was high. and that is what i remember.
ReplyDeletemy Favorite was the cold song. There were lots of different SHAPES and LEVELS. I enjoyed the different and UNIQUE movements CREATED in this ballet. I could relate to it because I used to be a ballet dancer. I know it has a depressing end, but I loved the way that they STRESSED him killing her. I thought it was a fantastic dance and I would love to see in real life.
